Animal Art Exhibition

I’ll leave you with some images from the art exhibition we are holding as part of the Animal Sweater Launch in our Lenko Art Window in the Cathedral Arcade. L’académie Des Arts de Collage du Lenko is our collaborative collage collective which has been working away on an animal themed range of piecesespecially for the Launch. There are some pretty magical and pretty weird things going on there, so come boggle your brain in this new animal kingdom of randomness.

The wait is over. The votes were collected and the most important decision of a lifetime was made- the next animal for the Lenko sweater! Thank you for the hundreds of entries and emails, we were so inundated with nominations of noble creatures (except that horrible naked mole rat ew) and in the end we had to choose 4 winners- SEAL, UNICORN, TOUCAN and LEMUR.

Well I’m not a scientist but I can tell that after a freakishly long Summer, Old Man Winter has arrived. The clues are there- its cold, its raining and it gets dark in the middle of the day. But its not all bad news- finally its time to wear all the winter wooliness thats coming out this season.

First up, let me introduce you to a new label from Sydney, Serpent and the Swan. Sisters Laurie and Hayley design this knitwear from merino wool, cotton and modal, and detail it with handmade resin animals. So so unusual, a lovley thing to have.

Next up is the colourful collection from Minty Meets Munt. Texture is the order of the day with faux fur, leather, wool, lace and velvet all making an appearance.

We also have new clothing in from Limedrop, if you misssed out on their first drop, we now have new tartan and linen shirts in and that amazing cloude print blazer has arrived!

New Jewellery has also arrived- new brooches from Labthreeofive as well as these new cuties from Sniffle Co!

Steven Shein that talented designer from LA has come up with some wild new designs to amaze us. His new perspex bangles, rings and earrings feature real gold flecks and bold text.

After such a huge response to our Choose the Animal For the Next Lenko Sweater Competition I’ve been feeling the pressure to come up with designs to do your winning nominations justice. As you may know, the winning animals were Toucan, Lemur, Seal and Unicorn (it IS a real animal). I can now tell you the designs are done! The drawings were turned into templates which I traced onto fabric and all the animal body parts were cut up and are now being sewn onto the sweaters! I’m never touching scissors again!!! I hope you like the outcome! Here is a sneak peek from Lenko HQ of our test toucan… stay tuned for the launch event!

Its all arriving now! Lenko is full of what make winter so much fun- Your New Wardrobe!

We have received our first drop from Fashion Week darlings Limedrop. We are so proud of their achievements this year, and love sharing their products with you! Come in and see what all the fuss is about- All new jewellery and clothing collection in store now, and more on the way!

We are also very proud to present the first range from Melbourne designer Led Zephyr! Check out her amazing leather boots as well as silky textured tops and Lacy track pants. Definitely a designer to watch!

We have had an incredible response to the latest collection from MyPetSquare from Sydney, with most styles selling out in the first few days. Lovely capes, sharp blazers, billowing dresses, silky silouhettes and structured skirts.

Also new this week is the lovelyrange from BebeSydney featuring wool military jackets, cream pleated dresses, and military style riding pants.

If you like it big and fun, you have to check out the blazers from Style Stalker with sky high shoulder details. Yehoo!

Oh and of course new Lenko wintery things are starting to arrive too! Check out the delicious Velvet Paradise Dress, or the unisex Stripey Long sleeve tee for starters!

All new jewellery in store too and dont forget the limited range of Philosofaces are now available to purchase. You may have noticed a bit of commotion around the Lenko Art Window recently. Philosoface’s Prue has been busily installing her new work as part of her Art of Fashion series. Come and see the limited edition brooches and necklaces she has created out of some of the best loved artists of our time. From Karl Lagerfeld to Ol’ Dirty Bastard there’s someone for everyone. You can see these pieces on display until the 10th of March and even put your name down in store to get yoursticky little mitts on one. On the 11th of March we will have all the non sold pieces available for sale with a few drinks at the store from 5-7pm. Come down and get your Lady Gaga or Brian Eno fix!

As you may know, one of Lenko’s most popular items is our Animal Sweater. Every year we painstakingly audition thousands of animals to see who will star on our sweater for the season. This year we are asking for YOUR help! That’s right, you will have your chance to really make a difference, to do something meaningful, to choose an animal to be put on a sweater!

You would think the inner fulfilment of your animal being chosen would be prize enough- but no! The winning entry will win an animal sweater of their very own.
