The clocks wound back an hour, which means Old Man Winter will be nipping at our heels once again. Don't worry friends, this is no cause for alarm as it is going to be the most colourful Winter season in the history of the Universe! So many amazing collections are dropping every day at Lenko and all of them feature bright colours, beautiful textures and exciting silhouettes.

Toto Collection and Art Window Launch Drinks!
It is our absolute pleasure to invite you to the launch of the newest jewellery collection from Toto! You loved her smash hit 'jerk, werd, dork' word necklaces and other wonderful inventions. She now presents Toto Geo, a collection of handmade clay and silver jewellery. She has also painstakingly created a piece of art for the Lenko Art Window to celebrate the colours and forms that inspired her jewellery.

Hello Lenko friends and lovers!

Please forgive my long absence from the blog! Like most of you, my December was insane- we were pure madness at Lenko Flinders Lane AND we had our cute-as-pie Pop Up Shop in Melbourne Central for the Christmas season. Running between the two stores got pretty funny- especially on boxing Day through the Bourke St zombie sale crowd- aeeei! Things have settled down now, back to just one shop feels like a holiday!

We’ve got a bit of a Sale going on in store, so you can pick up a little bargain and get a sneak peek at some of the new styles beginning to drop. So many amazing collections are slated for this season- we are super excited to introduce a few new designers, so stay tuned for news on that.

Here’s some exciting news- we just got in brand new SpiritHood styles! These wild babes have been going bananas in the European and American winter season, selling out in record time. We just got stock of the three new hoods- Forest Fox, Tiger and Skunk to get your animal on. We had the shawls for about a second before they sold out- so fingers crossed a few more will journey across the sea to us very soon. Get on it before the winter hits and they’re gone baby gone.

And for all of you who were lucky enough to get tickets Lenko will be joining the St Jerome’s Laneway Festival for the 5th year! We’ll be taking a selection of our favourite things and setting up shop, so come say hi and get your Laneway limited edition friendship bracelets!

Hello friends of Lenko!

Hope you have shaken off some of the Springtime chill, sneezed off the hayfever and are getting ready to jump into Summer!

Wow what an insane month it has been.  And word on the street is it’s only going to get madder with the lead up to Christmas just around the corner. I have so much to share with you I don’t know where to start. So I’ll just start here.

Melbourne Music Week

We were asked by MMW to do an installation as part of their Aesthetics of Sound project. This is where a few key shops around the city were approached to interpret sound in different ways. I asked art all- stars Michelle Hamer, Jacqueline Smith and Tai Snaith to create works based on songs.  These works are now on display in our Lenko Art Window in Cathedral arcade. And profits of any sales will go towards a music charity.  I was also lucky enough to be given a pile of old music books from The Caulfield Music School which were turned into large record inspired fans for our window display. They seem to be floating magically out of the coolest old school Boombox Ive ever seen- it plays records and folds into a suitcase! This was very kindly lent to me by the artist Michelle Hamer. These will all be on display until the 28th of November.

New Deliveries

This month has also seen the delivery of some truly incredible collections of clothing and jewellery. There’s been way too much to post about it all, but I’ll try share a few of my personal highlights with you:

Ken Done- that Australian art god is back! This amazing collaboration with Natalie Wood’s Something Else label is stunning. They have managed to combine the colour and excitement of Ken Done’s art with the effortless grace and style of the Something Else line. These were pieces of wearable art to treasure in your wardrobe. Featuring dresses, tops, shirts and jeans there was a little bit of Something Else for everyone.

In Jewellery news we are very excited to share with you the brand new collection by Me and Zena, an independent jewellery label from the UK. These playful pieces look like they came straight out of your high-school pencil case and will delight you with their beautiful workmanship. Pencils bend around your finger and wrist while an eraser or sharpener become rings and necklaces. Amazingly amazing unique pieces.

On my travels in the USA last month I was so very lucky to come by the jewellery of Bora. Handmade by Bora himself in his Brooklyn workshop these are beautiful timeless pieces with an otherworld quality. Featuring sterling silver and semi-precious stones and gems this range is really magical. Each piece was handcrafted just for us at Lenko, so come see which one was made just for you.

We have loved bringing you the works of Australian label Brass Mafia. Their quirky jewellery made people ooh and aah with all its clever twists and turns. We are sad to say that Brass Mafia has presented us with it’s last delivery before they move on to other projects. We wish them lots of luck with their new adventures, and hope all these last pieces go to very good homes. Check out these Skulls and Brains- a great twist on the old friendship necklaces..

The lovely Joji has made us a colourful collection of cranes! Each one is resin dipped to perfection and comes on a silver plated chain. A beautiful gift for anyone this holiday season.

I was pretty excited to get back home to Melbourne just in time for some new Spring arrivals! I didn’t want to miss out on all the treasures we had on the way! Let me tell you about a few and you’ll have to come in and see the rest!

On Tour- this breathtaking brand from Perth was a highlight of Perth Fashion Week and is now on its way to Lenko. There is so much to like in every piece- wearable art that you feel beautiful wearing.

My Pet Square- these Sydney girls have been making a splash overseas and we are so proud to have them in store. Their newest collection is called Feast of the Hunter’s Moon- and you can see the inspiration in the tribal digital prints and free spirited silhouettes.

New Menswear. After many requests to expand our mens offerings at Lenko, we have two new collections to choose from- Kings Of Carnaby and Vanguard.  Melbourne’s KOC celebrates the 60s mod themes while Queensland darlings Vanguard have a laid back nostalgic beach ethos. Plenty for the guys to love!

So many new Jewlz! Oh the deliveries are coming everyday with all the new jewellery collections weve been hanging for! Yes all new bling from Pigeonhole, Corky Saint Clair, Me and Zena, Toto, The Upper Crust and more is still on the way! Start filling your Santa sacks now!

The day has come. The nominations were tallied and the most important decision of our lifetime was made-  who will be the next animal on the Lenko  Animal Sweater! As the years pass and the entries flood in, the competition has become more intense with only the best animals making the cut. This year we are so proud to have chosen these fine animals: HEDGEHOG, RABBIT, FLAMINGO, PANDA and this year a fifth winner HONEY BADGER!

Animal Sweater Photo Shoot with OWL EYES!
It was an early Monday morning for Melbourne’s Owl Eyes, flying into Sydney to record for Triple J, then flying straight back for our photo shoot- ouch! How they managed to have so much energy and look super fresh as daisies I’ll never know, but thank goodness they did because it was such a fun shoot. Super cute Brooke Addamo is such a talented lass and  looks super sweet as a flamingo.  Listen to her new single Raiders playing on the radio at the moment! Thanks to Photographer extraordinaire Tomas Friml, makeup artist Yvonne Borland and her assistant Sue, and the amazing Lenko team behind the scenes Sarah and Samantha. also thanks to Tomas’s mum who helped collect all those leaves we used to create an indoor forest floor! I’m still finding them in my hair and in my shoes.

Pop Up Shop!
Our beautiful Pop Up Shop in Melbourne Central will be all a winter memory at the end of this month- so make sure you come in and visit us before then. It’s on the ground floor next to Tiger Lily and Sportsgirl and its amazing. Featuring Spirithoods, Limedrop, Fluxus, Lauren Moffatt and all your favourite brands, on the other end of the city!
